Here we go!
In December, I got a phone call from a friend of mine that went something like this... "You've led projects before, want to do a project for my friend who leads a local charity?" Sure! After a few more phone calls, I grabbed one of my high energy creative friends and we went to visit an amazing place called Milwaukee Women's Center, which is a division of Community Advocates.
The Women's Center provides emergency shelter and supportive care to women and children who have survived domestic violence, and families with children who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of losing their home. The shelter has 24 rooms, all in need of an uplifting remodel. The request was to organize and lead a project to update one of the rooms, leaving behind a bright new space, as well as learnings and plans that can be passed on to the next volunteer team to redo another room, and so on.
Cathy and I visited in February, and I brought Lenny with me last week to get more pictures and measurements. We are now in scoping and planning phase. So far we have many "before pictures" and a lot of ideas! I'll be planning and fundraising in parallel this Spring, and will ideally start execution this Summer.

Stay tuned for "in process" pictures, and eventually the "after pictures"!
